As many of you know, and if you don't know, try to climb out of that rock you've been under…
Justin Bieber was arrested this week for DUI, driving with a expired license & resisting arrest without violence.
Since everyone else seems to have an opinion and countless thoughts about the situation--why not share mine!
Here's what I think.
The culture we live in loves to put people on pedestals.
We love to see people as "too good to ever screw up."
We harass and harass and harass these celebrities and athletes until they break.
And when they break…we love to watch all the pieces fall!
In our society…we love to watch them fall. It's pretty sickening if you ask me.
We place them so high up on these pedestals and when they fall…
we record, journal and publish every second of it.
For example…
Brittney Spears…Miley Cyrus…Amanda Bynes…Lindsey Lohan…Chris Brown…Ricky Williams…Michael Vick
All whose lives were placed on these pedestals and slowly but surely, mistake by mistake, piece by piece…they all fell…
And we as a culture and society, watched and posted snark remarks and tweets about them and videoed every second of it...
Think about you at your lowest moment in your life…when everything seemed to be crumbling around you.
What if it was publicized and paraded all over national television?
Your every second of that lowest moment in your life, on every news station in the country…
all your mistakes becoming a joke on every SNL and late night skit on T.V….
I'm not saying these celebrities didn't do anything wrong.
I'm saying we need to put things in perspective.
Maybe, instead of posting all those tweets and Facebook status's about them and their mistakes…
maybe we could pray that God would speak to them and maybe we could realize they are human and we as a culture set them up for failure.
I don't know much and I'm not that smart…
But it just seems to me that Jesus wouldn't of taken someone's mistakes and advertised and exposed them all over the media to try and demoralize the individual.
Just my thoughts…take 'em or leave 'em!
