Church in America is messed up. Agree or disagree?
Church today absolutely blows my mind.
How did we conjure up what our churches look like today...?
After reading the Bible, how can we justify some of our churches?
I'm not saying I know exactly how all churches should run...because I 100% do not know.
But maybe it's something to think about...
And I'm not saying all Churches are doing a bad job of this...
But I am just reading scripture and taking it for what it says...not for what I think it says...
Ok check this...
Acts 2: 42-47
"42 And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. 43 And awe came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles. 44 And all who believed were together and had all things in common. 45 And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need. 46 And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts,47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved."
That passage of scripture wrecks me!
Basically, they taught each other and studied together.
They ate together in their homes.
They prayed together.
They sold possessions so that no one was in need (WOAH...LET THAT ONE SINK IN.)
They praised God together.
Hmmm....is this what the American church looks like?
I'm not trying to be condemning at all.
But this should be something we all should think about.
-Church might be a lot more (or a lot less) than singing a couple songs, some announcements, a 4 point sermon with notes, a powerful-tear jerking last song and closing up shop till next Sunday.
-Church might be more than just a one day a week thing.
-Church might be a little less or more than all the clutter of a Sunday morning/Sunday night/Tuesday Bible study/Wednesday youth group.
-Church might be more than YOURE STUPID CHURCH SIGNS...(ok, that one might just be from me not the Bible).
Those are just my thoughts from reading that passage of scripture....
Taking the Bible for what it says...
Just my thoughts.
What ya think? Agree? Disagree?
I'm up for thoughts!
