I used to think that stewardship was how we handle our finances.
However, stewardship is about how we handle ANYTHING we have control over-
Everything our hands touch-Everything we have influence over.
Our money.
Our time.
Our relationships.
Our skills and talents.
Our possessions.
Everything our hands touch.
How are you stewarding?
What has God put in your hands and how are you handling it?
(reference Matt. 25: 14-30)
Everyone is in this story.
Everyone of us.
Which servant are you?
There are 3 observations from this scripture that can help us out when it comes to stewardship.
1. It's not about equality
Life is not fair. It's not about equality. We are all given different things and different amounts.
It's not about what you have or what you don't have--It's about how you handle what you have.
Stop comparing what you do or don't have to what others do or don't have.
When we are focused on those things, we aren't focused on what God has given us.
We are USELESS if we are thinking "Life isn't fair".
You're right! It's not fair! We are not the same!
2. It's not about merit.
Merit-getting rewarded for your ability.
You didn't choose who you are--Yet you are you!
We are so blessed. You are so blessed.
We need to get perspective.
Stop looking at people who have "more" or "better" things and start looking at who you have "more" or "better" things than.
YOU have more rights and privileged than 95% of the world.
3. It is about response.
How will you respond?
All that you've been given, how will you respond?
Ask God to reveal to you all your things-Everything you've been given-
All the things you have influence over….
How will you respond?
WE AREN'T WHAT WE SAY…
WE AREN'T WHAT WE THINK…
WE ARE TOTALLY WHAT WE DO.
