"Just follow your heart."
"Your heart will never lead you astray."
"Follow your heart and your dreams will come true."
"Dare to believe that good things are possible when you follow your heart."
THAT IS A STEAMING, FRESH PILE OF...LIES!!! LIES!!! LIES!!!
Why don't we all just jump on a rainbow and play hopscotch with little fairies! Poop four leaf clovers and sing Kumbaya.
Follow your heart??
That couldn't be further from the truth.
What about Jeremiah 17:9?
"The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure."
And Mark 7:21?
"...out of the heart of a man, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery..."
And Prov. 28:26.
"Whoever trusts in his own mind is a fool, but he who walks in wisdom will be delivered."
So why do we keep feeding people this stupid line to follow your heart?
That couldn't be more wrong. (And yes I used 'more wrong'. It is wrong to say a fish is like a whale. It is 'more wrong' to say a fish is like a moose. Just sayin!)
Your heart is evil.
Your heart is deceitful.
Your heart will lead you astray.
Stop following your heart.
It leads to nothing but dispair, discouragement and disappointment.
This might be why 21 million Americans suffer from depression.
We're too busy following our heart.
Jesus never uttered the words to follow your heart.
He said "Follow Me."
So let's do that.
And in Carlos Whittaker's words "It's better that way."
