So my mind, my heart, has always been burdened for those who are hungry.
But lately, God has really pressed on my heart for those that walk the streets hungry or
without food in their pantries.
Do we realize that just 2% of the world's grain harvest, if shared, would be enough
to ERASE the problems of hunger and malnutrition?
Do we see that there is enough food on the planet to offer EVERY PERSON 2,500 calories of
sustenance A DAY?
Do we see that we are MORE THAN BLESSED to completely erase hunger...?
1/5 AMERICANS could not afford to feed themselves at some point during the last year. 49 million Americans struggle to put food on the table...(this isn't just a developing, third world country issue...)
But it's just more prevalent there...both are in need of serious attention.
Hunger kills more people a year than...AIDS, Malaria, and Tuberculoses...COMBINED!
1/6 children in developing countries are underweight because of lack of nutrition.
World agriculture produces 17 percent more calories per person today than it did 30 years ago,
despite a 70 percent population increase.
But we want to spend our money on more important things right?
Like fireworks (600 million a year)
Or cigarettes (23 million A DAY)
Or our pets (52 BILLION a year)
Or the most important things...CANDY CRUSH ($633,000...A DAY)
Good-Freakin-Gosh!
Do you have more than enough?
Do you spend money on useless, pointless things?
Do you have land to grow on or ways to produce food?
Do you have ways to collect food, nutrition?
What will you do to change?
How can you...we...do our part?
Because we do have a part to play.
We can't turn a blind eye...and act like other people will take care of this...
Do your part. I'll do mine.
